Kasumi Beach

The ancient temple was founded in Tenpyo 17 (745) and rebuilt in the Tenmei Year (1781-89) by the two superiors of Mizou [Mitsuzo] and Miei [Mitsuei]. It holds a large number of pictures that can be used by the mid-Edo picture artist Maruyama Okyo and his disciples, and is also known as Ogoji. Including the famous Laomatsu Peacock Map, all 165 of the barrier paintings and three Buddha statues have become important cultural treasures of the country. A 10-minute drive down south from the Kasumi coast, the mountain-side Odeyu that springs along the Yada River. The inside of the museum also boasts that it uses log beams unique to the countryside and feels the warmth of trees in consideration of harmony with nature. The large bathhouse has an open-air bath outside of the inner bath, and you can enjoy bathing with cherry blossoms in spring, green in summer, autumn foliage in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter.
