First Sunrise (Higashizaki)
A cape on the east side of Yonaguni Island, the westernmost point in Japan. It is the first sunrise of the slowest time in Japan. On a clear day, you can also view the remote Iriomote Island. At the tip of the cliff, which is about 70 meters from the sea level, the Higashi Lighthouse stands and an observation deck is provided. The area around the cape is a rolling grazing area with majestic views, with a stunning contrast between the white observation deck and the sea and the green grasslands, and an idyllic view where the Yonaguni horses and cows live. Accommodation and rental cars are limited in number, and reservations tend to be filled one or two months in advance. Especially in the winter season, due to the high season with many long-term guests, it is certain that the coming island after both have been booked. Image courtesy Yonaguni Town Tourism Association
