Hamamatsu Castle was built by the order of Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1570. Ieyasu spent 17 years at Hamamatsu Castle, from 29 to 45 years old, and the subsequent castle owner also took the key positions of the shogunate one after another.
To the east of the castle gate, in a corner of the remains of the main citadel, stands a statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu in his younger days. Since Ieyasu is often associated with his later years, the sight of his slender figure in his younger days is refreshing.
In his right hand he carries a fern leaf called auspicious "Kachigusa", which also contains the meaning of praying for longevity or progeny prosperity, and is also used in Ieyasu's helmet.

天守閣1階

On the first floor of the castle tower, you will be greeted by the dignified and brave life-size statue of Ieyasu. A realistic figure that has been reproduced even wrinkles and pores is a must-see. The footage introduces the "Battle of Mikatagahara" in which he fought a fierce battle with Shingen Takeda.
On the second floor, the transition between Hamamatsu Castle and the castle town is introduced using diorama and projection mapping. Excavations and armor related to Hamamatsu Castle are also displayed.

The ceiling on the third floor is gorgeous gold, and the family crests of the Tokugawa family and other successive castle owners are slilded.

From the observation deck, you can see the scenery of Hamamatsu. On a sunny day, you can also see Mt. Fuji!

浜松城天守秘話

On the first floor of the basement, there is a well with a diameter of 1.3m and a depth of 1m. It is said that there were 10 wells in Hamamatsu Castle, and at the time of the castle, this was used to secure water.

Many original goods such as tote bags and masking tape are available at the concession stand on the first floor of the castle. For Hamamatsu Castle's climbing memorial, 300 yen per "Gojō-in" or 2300 yen each for "Original Gojōin" is recommended.

Speaking of the major feature of Hamamatsu Castle, the "nozura pile" of Ishigaki. It is a method of stacking natural stones in combination, and it is sturdy and well drained because the gaps are stuffed with pebbles and gravel. I feel historical romance to leave the same figure as the Sengoku period. And this stone wall has two stones in the shape of a heart, making it a secret favorite spot. It is said to be the "stone of the husband and wife heart" taken with him for 400 years.

In addition, there is a heart stone near the south gate of the Japanese garden in Hamamatsu Castle Park, so if you visit the area, please look for it.
