It is an ancient-style dance music that is transmitted to the Hachimantai area of Kazuno City, and has been designated as a national important intangible folk cultural property, and is also listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. When Dainichido was rebuilt nearly 1,300 years ago, the dance music, which is said to have been transmitted by musicians from the capital, has been dedicated and inherited by people from the four surrounding settlements. The dance begins in each settlement in the wee hours of the second day of the New Year, and a procession of people dancing around the dawn of the night gathers at Dainichi Reiki Shrine (Dainichido). The severe dance in the hall continues until noon.
