Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine Autumn Festival, Naked Festival

A millennial traditional event that prays for a fertility of five grains and a disease-free disaster. It leaves an unusual form of "welcoming the ancestors who showed up as demons". At its peak, it becomes a fire festival in which Akaoni and Kuro Oni wield torches and sparks fly. Designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Avoid nylon clothes because there is a case of burning with the fire of the torch.

A traditional event that continues from the mid-Edo period to celebrate the New Year. Depart from Kotohira Palace downstream on a Horai boat and aim for Wakamiya Hachiman upstream. When approaching the shore, the audience is filled with red-white luck cakes from the ship. Also, when a celebration is offered by the audience, it is spectacular for young people to jump into the cold river to receive it. It is designated as the Oita Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property.

The "Takada Kanko Bon Odori Tournament", a summer wind poem by Bungo-Takada, will be held from 19 o'clock on Sunday, August 18. Various groups, from children to adults, compete to dance, and a large circle of dances is formed in a gorgeous manner. After the end of the group dance (19:55 ~), distribution of "celebration rice cakes" to celebrate the event will be held. In the finale, there is also a grassland dance performed by the "Grassland Dance Preservation Society", and the highlight is the "quick change of costume", which turns a man from a glossy woman dance to a happy man dance.
