日本で唯一戦前から続く工芸用色ガラス棒製造工場で、和泉市の伝統産業であるガラス細工の材料や、日本一の製造量を誇った和泉市の人造真珠の核となる原玉を供給した。建物は国の登録有形文化財に指定されている。アクセサリーパーツ製作等の職人技が見学でき、とんぼ玉体験教室もある。体験(全て要予約)は小学2年生～、平日は1人1時間2000円(2～24名まで)、土曜は1人2時間2500円(3名まで)。併設のショップでガラス細工やアクセサリー・バーナーワーク用品等の販売を行なってる。

明治以来、和泉市内で綿業を営んできた久保惣株式会社と久保家の寄贈により、昭和57年(1982)に開館。東洋古美術を中心に、国宝2点・重要文化財29点を含む、約1万1000点を収蔵。中国工芸品、モネ・ルノワールなどの西洋近代絵画、ロダンなどの彫刻も展示。年間を通じて、さまざまな展覧会が行われる。
