19th Century Hall

The origin of the name "19th century", in which the technology supporting modern life was greatly developed. The D51 type cut body, C56 type steam locomotive, and C58 type steam locomotive are displayed in the hall. Diorama Kyoto JAPAN (Railway Museum)

The exhibition hall of the railway diorama attached to the Trokko Saga Station. The elaborate 1/80 size diorama of the city of Kyoto is the largest in Japan. The starry sky using 12,025 optical fibers spreads on the ceiling of the diorama, and you can enjoy the fantastic night atmosphere of Kyoto along with the lights of the city. The experience of being able to operate a model train with the master controller of the cab that was actually used (200 yen per time), and sitting in the driver's seat of the EF66 electric locomotive that was pulling the blue train, A driving experience (reservation required, 1000 yen for 15 minutes) in which a model railway with a small camera is driven by a driving device can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

Music Box Museum Arashiyama, Kyoto

A museum that exhibits and plays various music boxes, mainly antique. From about 1500 music box collections of Guido Luge, who interacted with many music box collectors around the world, you can see more than 150 selected items. "The Oldest Music Box in the World," from 1796, is a must. There is a music box shop and a "luge shop" with works by the long-established Swiss music box maker REUGE.

Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama

It is located on the middle of Mount Iwata at an altitude of 160m, and is home to about 120 Japanese monkeys. The garden seems to have entered the natural monkey's habitat, so you can see the monkeys in close proximity.

嵐山公園 亀山地区

小倉山の東南に位置し、山頂付近から保津川を一望することができる。小倉百人一首の歌碑などを巡りながら四季折々に変化を見せる木々に囲まれた遊歩道をゆっくり散策しよう。

Okochi Sanso Garden

丹下左膳役で有名な昭和初期の俳優、大河内伝次郎の別荘。小倉山[おぐらやま]の山裾の起伏を利用して、桜や楓、松などを植え込んだ広大な庭は趣が深く、展望台の眺望もよい。登録有形文化財。

Fallin persimmon

ひなびた茅葺き屋根の庵は、松尾芭蕉の高弟である向井去来[むかいきょらい]の草庵跡。芭蕉も訪れ「嵯峨日記」を著した。草庵の玄関にはかつての主の在宅を告げた蓑と笠がかけられ、庭には俳句の季語となる100種の草木とともに去来や芭蕉などの句碑が立ち、投句箱もある。登録有形文化財。

Watsuki Bridge

大堰川[おおいがわ]に架かる全長155mの橋。亀山上皇が「くまなき月の渡るに似る」として、渡月橋と命名したという風情ある橋で、嵐山の景観にとけ込んでいる。鵜飼などの川遊びも渡月橋を中心に行われる。当初、橋は現在より100mほど上流にあったと考えられるが、慶長11年(1606)に角倉了以[すみのくらりょうい]が大堰川上流の保津川開削工事を行った際、今の場所に移された。

Kozumi mound

A small five-wheeled pagoda that enshrines the small governor known from the "Heike Story". Kōkan, who was loved by the Takakura Emperor, hides himself on the banks of Sagano when he is caught by Nakamiya Tokuko's father, Kiyomori Taira. It is said that his location was known by the examination of the koto of "Sohu Koi [Sohuren]", which was played near Watsuki Bridge, and he was recalled to the Emperor, but he was eventually sent home by Kiyomori and driven out.

Kyoto City Saga Torii Honmachi Preservation Building

Toriimoto is home to a number of private houses with thatched roofs, which have been selected as the preservation district of the country's important traditional buildings. In addition, the Preservation Hall, which uses a machiya built in the early Meiji period, displays models that reproduce the townscape around 1930 (Showa 5).
