The museum, located on the 10th floor of the Aichi Center for Arts and Culture, has a collection of about 8500 works from Japan and abroad, including Picasso and Klimt, which focus on the beginning of the 20th century through the modern era. It also holds planned exhibitions from time to time.

In the numismatics exhibition room, there are permanent displays of Japanese and world-wide coinage, such as "Tenshenzawa [Omodaka] broadsheet" made by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, which is three extant sheets, and the world's oldest coinage, "Ancient Chinese Shellfish". The Ukiyo-e Exhibition Room holds a planned exhibition of ukiyo-e prints centered on the Tōkaidō, painted by Utagawa Hiroshige.
