A fruit plantation spread over a small mountain. It grows grapes, apples, chestnuts, pears and other fruits on a vast site of about 20,000 square meters. Pears are sold only (1 kg400 yen to).

Close to the parking area, one of the five highways of Edo, the appearance of a calm atmosphere that mimics the magojuku of Nakasendo is eye-catching. For the food court's "Bago to Yushou no Sato", "Yushou no Menpo Rice" and "Bajin no Honjen Soba", which use "Mistake Shinosoba" to be grown in the Hata Kogen, are recommended. The "Iwana/Amago no Amago", which is cooked softly to the bone and eaten whole from head to tail, is sold only here on the highway, using the iwana amago carefully raised in a local fishing area.

The first parking area you will meet through the long Ena Mountain Tunnel on the Chuo Expressway. PA in the mountains surrounded by nature, recommended for driving fatigue refreshment. The popular menu of the food court is "boiled set meal" and "Tang fried set meal". It is handmade and very juicy, and the volume is definitely satisfied with the perfect score. The stand offers a large number of chestnut-made sweets, such as "Kurikinton", a specialty made from chestnuts from Nakatsugawa, and "Kurimanju". "Plat Park" is installed in the PA, and you can use the facility from a general road.

Standing along the Kawakami River, the 30cm square Kiso Itsuki, including cypress, hiba, and sawara, is used on the pillars inside the building, and the hand-weaving experience, which can be coached by local women, is 2000 yen, a reservation is required. Handmade crafts and sales of local seedlings of vegetables, etc.

The local head-to-head trade union sells fresh fresh vegetables at affordable prices each morning. It also has a large selection of specialty products from Kiso, Hida and local Nakatsugawa. You can also "soba-making experience" using local buckwheat flour, and "gohei-mochi experience" using Nakatsugawa Koshihikari.

中津川宿の旧家から発見された古文書には、和宮降嫁の行列や天狗党の通行の様子を示す古文書、幕末の混乱期の重要な出来事の一つである「薩長同盟」の密談を伝える文書など、幕末を駆け抜けた人々に関する貴重な資料を収蔵し、広く公開している。

見て、触れて科学の不思議を体感できる。力の科学、光と影の科学、電気の科学など、テーマごとにわかりやすく展示。中津川市出身で平成27年(2015)文化勲章を受章した末松安晴博士顕彰室を併設。

鉱物産地として知られる「苗木地方」にあり、水晶・トパーズなどの産出鉱物を展示。また、地元出身の鉱物研究者・長島乙吉氏と、その子息で地球化学者の長島弘三博士から寄贈された貴重な鉱物標本を紹介。砂の中から小水晶を探し出すストーンハンティングが人気。見つけた水晶のうち1つを持ち帰ることができる。

戦国時代から明治時代にかけて、この地方を12代に渡って治めた苗木遠山家の居城が苗木城。その城跡が残る丘の麓にあるのが、この史料館だ。苗木遠山氏は織田氏や武田氏と縁戚関係を結び、その後、徳川氏とも安定した関係を築いて、国替えもなくこの地方を治めた。城跡は、南に流れる木曽川を天然の堀とした小高い丘の上にあり、国の史跡に指定されている。館内では苗木領内における人々の生活ぶりなどがわかりやすく展示されている。所要60分。

中津川宿から馬籠宿に向かう途中にある宿場がこの落合宿。3町35間(約390m)に渡って75軒の家々が軒を連ねていたという。この落合宿の中程には、本陣があり中山道全域に現存する本陣のなかでも最も往時の姿をとどめるといわれる(日曜・祝日のみ見学可、冬期は要予約)。
