中山道を江戸板橋宿から数えて45番目の宿場町として栄えた中津川宿は、旅籠だけでも大小29軒を数える大きな宿場だった。現在、本町にある本陣跡地には、石碑が残されている。周辺には古い家屋も立ち並び、卯建[うだつ]のある家なども見ることができる。

落合宿にある中山道でも数少ない、往時の面影を色濃く残す本陣。ここはかつて、落合の庄屋として名字帯刀[みょうじたいとう]を許された名家、井口家の屋敷だった。明治天皇のご巡幸や皇女和宮[かずのみや]降嫁の際には、この本陣で休息をとられた。※日曜9～16時見学可能。

かつて全日本フォークジャンボリーが開催された地で、湖を囲むように約150本の桜が植えられている。満開時期には夜はライトアップも行われ、夜桜も楽しむことができる。

落合宿と馬籠宿を結ぶ中山道の峠が十曲峠。つづら折りの坂の先に、全長840mの落合の石畳がある。さらにその先には一里塚や休憩所も設けられており、多くの旅人で賑わった中山道の面影が復元されている。また、一里塚の向かいには、島崎藤村の筆跡で刻まれた是より北木曽路の碑も立っている。

島崎藤村が長男のため建てた古民家四方木屋は茶房として癒の空間を楽しんでもらえる店。風合いと色が美しい手漉[てすき]折染和紙500円～はこの店のオリジナル商品。愛らしい野山の植物が彫られた豆鏡1850円や木製ボールペン1700円～など、素朴でセンスのいい小物類が揃う。店内では抹茶千菓子付、小川珈琲、白玉ぜんざいなどが味わえる。

A well-stocked shop with souvenirs such as Kiso's folk art and seafood. Spring koma 400 yen, a folk art of straw in the shape of a Kiso horse, has been handmade in a basket since ancient times. The naive loveliness pleases. There are plenty of Kiso-ki products, such as only 285 yen and one Kiso-ki-ki postcard, 145 yen. In Kiso's taste, in addition to Kurikinton (seasonal only) and Tochigi rice crackers, a pack of three Gohei rice cakes is popular.

Standing at the entrance of Kisoji, the museum of Kaii Higashiyama is attached; the specialty Gohei rice cake set meal is 850 yen; and the soba manju "Hee" (3 yen to 330 yen), which is named after Kiso's greeting words, is recommended for souvenirs.

It stands at the site of the former Ma-ba-Wakimoto-chi-Hachiya family, which also became a model for Masudaya, which appears in the novel "Before the Dawn". The memorandum from the first to the fourth generation was written by Fujimura when he wrote "Before the Dawn". The museum displays furniture and antiquities from the Hachiya family. It has also been faithfully restored during the upper row where the daimyō stayed. It takes 30 minutes.

He has served as a shōya in Yufunazawa, a museum that publishes the holdings of the Hammamaya Shimazaki family. It displays the administrative materials of the Kiso Valley during the Edo period, such as the checkbook and the gun card, and the books such as the Four Shrines used in Terakoya education and adult education. There is also an autograph document by Fujimura's father Masaki, a photograph of Fujimura's first love person Yufu, who was the model for his novel "Hatsukoi", and historical material that introduces the period background of his novel "Before the Dawn", which is interesting. It takes 10 minutes. There is also a souvenir shop and a place to rest on the first floor. The store also sells "Mysterious Water", a natural spring that springs from the site of the Tsummera Main Store. At the store, the company sold a demonstration of "Kurifuku", a baked confection containing one whole flavorful chestnut and one whole chestnut in a castella-style dough. 250 yen each.

Shimizuya (Hara [Hara] family), who served as an inn official of the horse-bound family, had an intimate friendship with the Honjin Shimazaki family, and exhibited Fujimura's memorandum of writing the novel [Oboegaki], as well as the letter, the hanging shaft of "Kōyori Kitagisoji". In addition to this, there are also living tools such as pottery, mirrors, lamps, and clothing such as Kantawa weaving, as well as ancient documents transmitted to Shimizuya, hanging axes of works by Ogata Korin and Tomioka Tessai, and paintings. Ippei Hara, the eighth-generation head of the Hara family who had been particularly close to Fujimura, is the model for "Mori-san", which appears in Fujimura's late novel "Arashi". It takes 10 minutes.
