National Route 299, which connects Oku-Tateshina to Sakuho-cho, is popularly known as the "Merchen Kaido", and has become a popular mountain driving course as the only road that can be crossed by car over Kita-Yatsugatake. A vast natural park located at the eastern foot of Mount Kitahachi. If you take a walk in the park, you can enjoy nature and forest bathing. There are three walking courses: "white small diameter" with beautiful birch forests, "blue small diameter" with small waterfalls, mountain streams and lakes, and "green small diameter" with dainty plateau flowers in early summer. Because of the contact between temperate and subarctic forests, a variety of plants can be observed, and the singing of wild birds is also pleasant. The walking course is 1 to 2.5km in total length.

A museum with drawings by Okumura Toxi, a heavy-weight of the modern Japanese art pit.
