Despite being a desolate land, you should be able to feel the breath of the earth in the smell of sulfur standing around and the water vapor that constantly spews.
There are various ways to enjoy Owakudani. You can enjoy the scenery from the Lopeway and the observation area "Chikyu-no-valley" opened at Owakudani Station, as well as stroll around the area, and walk on the nature research road to the vicinity of the smoke area (reservation required). The point is that you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji on a good day. Since you can see Owakudani in the panorama from the sky, you can enjoy a more dynamic view. The male figure of the valley floor or Mount Fuji overlooking from the ropeway is exceptional. Furthermore, the height of the highest point from the ground is about 130m above the ground, so the thrill is perfect. I want to enjoy a walk in the air with a superb view.
The ropeway has four stations: Togendai Station, Ubako Station, Owakudani Station, and Sounzan Station. The ropeways operate at 1 minute intervals, with each leg taking about 10 minutes. Since it is possible to get off on the way, it is also a point that you can do sightseeing not only at Owakudani, but at each station. If it is Tōgendai Station, take a pirate boat from Tōgendai Port (Tōgen Daikō), which is directly connected to the station. At Ubako Station, Ubako Onsen is one of the Hakone 17-toshi.
