Hasedera Temple

It is part of the Nakatsu River, which flows through the mountainous area of the Shin-Etsu border, and is a valley extending a total length of 26km from Mitama, Tsunan-cho to Kiaki, Sakaemura, Nagano. Huge rock formations are lined up on both sides, creating a magnificent valley beauty. There is a trekking course between Sakamaki Onsen ~ Moeki no Sato (1 hour 10 minutes on foot) and Moeki no Sato ~ Mizura's Suspension Bridge ~ Wind Hole (1 hour 30 minutes). A famous temple of the Soto sect, which has gathered faith as one of the four Echigo dojo. It is said to have been opened in the year of Oei 10 (1403) by a direct grandson of Kusunoki Masanari, a master of Jyodo Nokatsuzen. Cedar trees, which are said to be 300 to 500 years old, are designated as prefectural natural monuments, continue over 500m of the approach. Six buildings, the main hall, back, and Zen halls and the shudō, sanmon, cloister, and kyozo, are designated as national registered tangible cultural property.
