Ito Needle Festival

Mount Omuro, a country-designated natural monument, is a mountain at an altitude of 580m with a crater of about 1km and a depth of about 40m on the summit. The whole mountain is covered with kaya, and the mountain grilling will last for about 700 years for the purpose of weed and pest control purposes, for harvesting good kaya used for thatched roofs, etc. It is now held as a tourist event. "Ochayaki" grilling the inside of the crater from the peak in the morning, and "Zenzan-yaki", which ignites from the foot of the mountain at noon, takes about 40 minutes to set the fire on the whole mountain. "Sakura no Sato" is recommended for a tour of Zenyama-yaki. The general public can also participate in the ignition on a first-come, first-served basis, for a fee, but it will be postponed due to the wetness of Kaya, so the details need to be confirmed on the official website.

The summit is a grass mountain with no trees at all, so you can see Oshima and Izu Shichijima. To the peak at an altitude of 580m, a pair lift is about 6 minutes. It runs from 5:40 to 7:00 on January 1 (holiday in severe weather). The peak has an eruption mouth at a depth of 70m and a circumference of about 1km, and the surrounding area is a promenade (only opening at first sunrise, with traffic regulations for safety). The first sunrise is open at the 360 ° view spot at the Komuroyama Ridge Walk “MISORA” at the summit of Komuroyama. The lift is 5 minutes to the summit. The service runs from 5:30.
