"Kadokawa Musashino Museum" in Tokorozawa, Saitama. Including the rock building that Kengo Kuma supervised the design, it features not only the library but also the functions of museums and museums. I will report on how to enjoy this featured museum!
A huge rock that suddenly appears! The crust that sprung up from the Musashino Plateau!?

After getting off at Higashi-Tokorozawa Station on the JR Musashino Line and walking for about 10 minutes, you pass through the lush Higashi-Tokorozawa Park and suddenly come across a large rock! This huge mass is the Kadokawa Musashino Museum.
There is a "Kadokawa Musashino Museum", "Todazawa Sakura Town" is a facility operated by KADOKAWA. It has an event hall, hotel, shop and restaurant, which is the largest pop culture base in Japan."

This mysterious building is designed by Kengo Kuma, a leading Japanese architect. It is a 61-hedron building made from a combination of about 20,000 pieces of granite, with an image of the crust of this Musashino plateau split from the surface. It shows different expressions depending on the angle of view.
[Highlights 1] Two libraries that can be read from manga and light novels to rare literature

On the first floor, the "Manga Ranobe Library" holds about 32,000 Japanese light novels, as well as about 8000 manga and children's books published by KADOKAWA. There are also manga and light novels. Here is where you can read the most light novels in Japan!

There are picture books and children's books in one corner, as well as a "digital picture book" corner, which makes it a place for children to enjoy.

Continue on to "Edit Town" on the fourth floor. The first thing to jump in is the huge book area "Book Street." About 25,000 books will be lined up.

The bookshelf is also supervised by Kengo Kuma in the image of the "human brain". If you look closely, the length of the shelf is different and it is uneven, there are books to be placed sideways, and there are figures lined up...!
This is supervised by the first director, Seigou Matsuoka, and it is arranged in line with the “nine contexts” to read the world, so that you can meet books that you would not normally choose. Also pay attention to the artboards and displays that line the ceiling.

"Bookshelf Theatre" is overwhelmed by the book space that leads up to the ceiling as you walk along. A huge bookshelf with a height of 8m on 2 floors of 4 and 5 floors! Books of the Manga Ranobe Library and Edit Town can be searched from the official site, including books near the ceiling. There is also valuable private literature inside.

The screening of projection mapping, which takes place here once every 20 minutes, is also planned to be replaced regularly.
[Highlights 2] It's not just books! Edit Town is also art and museum!
In the "Edit Town" there is not only a book area, but also an art and museum area.

"Aramata Wonder Hihou-kan" in the museum area.
Supervised by naturalist Hiroshi Aramata, this is an area that deals with "wonderful" things that are different from the so-called treasure museum. It is divided into two sections: "Science Art Room: Temple of Life" and "Wonder Room: Hell of Doubt."

You can even touch and look at the exhibits in the skeptical room. From beautiful specimens to pieces of UFOs...whether they're true or not is irrelevant, but they're all mysterious in a good way. As expected from Professor Aramata. The POPs attached to the exhibits were also handwritten by the professor!
From the real diner to the shrine. Even if you are all day, you will not get tired of visiting many times!

To the museum shop, the high sense is the Kadokawa Musashino Museum. The "Rock Museum Shop" on the second floor is designed by a creative team called heso, and it is full of miscellaneous items with excellent design.
It deals with local toys from Musashino and Saitama, and the cute Kawagoe Daruma! Sayama tea, which is a famous local, is good for souvenirs.

If you are hungry, you will also go to the second-floor "Kado Cafe". We sell sweet potato-made sweet potato "Oimo Ball", which is often picked up in Tokorozawa. It is recommended to take a break while watching the water surface spread out beyond the window.♩

There is also "SACURA DINER" on the 5th floor where you can eat lunch and dinner. The dishes and table sets are also lovely in a very stylish shop. This full-scale diner, which also has alcohol and course dishes, is available without entrance fees.

The last place we will introduce is the outdoor Musashino Imasu Reiwa Shrine. It was designed by Kengo Kuma and named by Japanese literature scholar Susumu Nakanishi. I was amazed to find that it even has a shrine!

The ceiling painting of the main hall was done by Yoshitaka Amano, who is well known for his character designs in the Final Fantasy series. This shrine also sells a charm called "Shimekiri-mamori" that has gone viral on social media. I have to buy one!
The Kadokawa Musashino Museum is an unprecedented project that combines art, natural history, and books. Use your imagination and enjoy moving between the real and virtual worlds.
