Shiramine Onsen Sohu

白峰地区に伝わる牛首紬は、平治元年(1159)の平治の乱に破れた源氏の落人が村人に伝えていったという織物。ここでは、繭から糸を紡ぐところから、撚糸[ねんし]、染色、糸繰り、そして機織りと一連の作業が見学できる。2匹の蚕が入った玉繭[たままゆ]を使うのが牛首紬の特色で、その玉繭から糸を引く技術は大変珍しく、その技術は石川県指定無形文化財にも指定されている。はた織りやまゆ人形作りなどの体験もおすすめ。入館、体験はいずれも事前に株式会社西山産業に予約が必要。

A museum located in the Kuwajima area where many dinosaur fossils were excavated. Realistic models of dinosaurs, skeletal specimens, fossils and dioramas are on display. Tyrannosaurus greeted us at the entrance, and there is a display of a skeleton replica of a diplodocus with a total length of more than 20m. There are dinosaur models not only inside the hall but also outside the hall. You can also experience fossil search in the fossil excavation square.

A mountain sightseeing road with a total length of 33.3km connecting the city of Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture and the World Heritage Shirakawa Township. From the roadside with an altitude of 500m to 1450m, you can enjoy the view of many waterfalls and Hakusan, including Ubake Falls, which is one of the 100 waterfalls in Japan, and in the fall, such as the mountains and the cloud sea of the autumn leaves selected as the 100 spots of the Japanese autumn leaves, there are various sights throughout the season. At Hataya-no-yu, which is about a 20-minute walk from the Snake Valley Park, you can enjoy outdoor baths and foot baths while looking at Ubake Falls (use is required on the official website). The temperature is about 8 degrees lower than the flat area in the vicinity of the Mikataiwa car park, and it is possible to enjoy refreshing even in the summer, and you can see the mountains of Hakusan and Hida from the peak of Mikatake (1736m), which is about a 50-minute walk away.
