Oike and Ohirgi community

An observation deck at an altitude of 56m near the port of Kameike. Far north, you can see the island of Hokudaitō. Although the island is about 21km around it, the landscape from the observation deck looks like a large area of arable land for sugarcane and potatoes is due to the large size of the area. It is also because the terrain of the island is a basin type that is as high as the surrounding area, so the surrounding sea can hardly be seen.

The island's Ujinjin-sama, built by Tamaki Hanemon, a settler on the southern eastern island of Japan, with the Amaterasu Daijin in service. The precinct, where the old trees grow, is a treasure trove of flora and fauna unique to the island of Minamidaitō, such as the daitō-kōnō, and the daitō-birō. At night, Japan's largest bat, the giant flying fox, which is a natural monument of the country, also flies around. Every year on September 22 and 23, the island's best festival, the Toyonen Festival, is held, and Edo Sumo and Okinawa Kakuriki [Kakuriki] are dedicated.

It is located at sea far east, about 400km from the main island of Okinawa. An island of outlying atolls [Risuikansho], created by a raised atoll, which is also rare worldwide. The island with an area of about 30 sq km, the largest in the Great East Islands. It is the sixth largest in Okinawa. Since there is no history connected to the continent, the vegetation is unique, and this rare nature can be said to be the most important. The history of the island is only about 100 years since the entry of pioneer immigrants. It was under the control of a sugar company until about 60 years ago, and now remains the mark of a sugar train in Minamidaito. The center of the island is a residence settlement with the government hall and the Southern Dōtō Regional Meteorological Observatory.
