In the townscape of Mikuni, once a thriving red-light district, stands a historic building that retains the elegant atmosphere of a traditional hanamachi (geisha district). The 100-year-old structure is a registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Here, guests can enjoy a relaxed meal in quiet, atmospheric rooms. Indulge in the rich sweetness of sweet shrimp (amaebi) freshly caught from Mikuni Port. The signature amaebi tempura rice bowl is topped with a fluffy egg and steeped in a savory broth made from bonito and kelp—the aroma of the shrimp even lingers in the rice. The sashimi also boasts a plump texture and exquisite sweetness. The amaebi tempura bowl is also available for takeout. Seasonal small dishes and desserts feature ingredients that reflect the four seasons, including local fruits, and the rice is carefully selected organic rice from Oku-Echizen.
