A magnificent and dynamic float parade that announces the arrival of autumn in Tsuruga.
The Tsuruga Festival, one of the premier events in Hokuriku, features portable shrines and six powerful floats parading through the city with full citizen participation, along with a creatively designed festival plaza, a grand carnival procession, and an evening of folk dance, completely immersing the entire city in a festive atmosphere.
The “Kehi Jingu Annual Grand Festival” is widely known as one of the longest festivals of Kehi Shrine, beginning with the Eve Festival on September 2, followed by the Sacred Procession on the 3rd, the Grand Festival on the 4th, the Later Festival from the 5th to the 10th, and concluding with the Monthly Festival on the 15th. During the festival period, food stalls and entertainment booths line the streets inside and outside the shrine grounds, and decorated floats and festival carts appear. Various local groups hold ceremonial dedication events, attracting a great number of worshippers not only from across the Hokuriku region but also from Kyoto, Osaka, Shiga, Aichi, and other prefectures, making it one of the most notable traditional annual events of Hokuriku. On the 3rd, during the Sacred Procession, the main portable shrine and the mikoshi from each parish town parade through the city, filling all of Tsuruga with lively festivities and allowing visitors to fully experience the atmosphere of the grand festival.
