Kagoshima

Kagoshima Prefecture is a region that was ruled by the Satsuma Domain during the Edo period and produced such greats as Takamori Saigō and Toshimichi Okubo during the Tokugawa period. The former Shengseikan, Japan's first group of Western-style factories, is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site as a legacy of the Industrial Revolution. It is also attractive that the majestic nature spreads, such as Sakurajima, known for its volcanoes, Amami Ōshima, which is full of mangroves, and Yakushima, a world natural heritage site. Animal husbandry is flourishing on the Shirasu plateau, and it is also famous as one of Japan's leading black cows and black pigs. In addition, it is home to the Tanegashima Space Center, a space development base in Japan, and is considered the most beautiful rocket launch site in the world.
