During the Edo period, the Torii Pass was said to be one of the best spots on the Nakasendo. First, head north on the road in front of the station to the town of Yuharajuku. As you cross the line bridge past the sake brewery that continues from the Edo period, you can see the Hida-dori Oiwake, the site of the Oboki-taki government office, etc. Furthermore, enter the mountain path to the mountain pass next to the fire station, and climb the cobblestone road, which is said to be a difficult place. Along the way, old sites such as the observation deck with a full view of the inn, the Yoshinaka Insusui, and the Mitake Shrine are crowded. The stunning horse chestnut group, which lies ahead of the Otake Shrine, has been recognized as a Constitutive Cultural Property of Japanese Heritage. There is a rest area as you go through the site of the Meiji Emperor's residence and down the mountain path. Further down, there are teahouses, cobblestones, and Jin Shrine, which are ancient battlefields, and from here it becomes Narai-juku.
