Yusuge Onsen

A hiking course starting from Mine no Chaya, with a total length of 10.3 km. Departing from Mine no Chaya, as you proceed down the path lined with Mizunara and Karamatzu trees, you will see Shiraito Falls. From here, continue along the Yukawa River for about 6.5 km to reach Ryugaeshi Falls, which is said to have a legend of a giant snake being swallowed by the waterfall. Further south, after about 1 km, you will arrive at Koze Onsen. The promenade continues from Koze to the endpoint at Mikasa Street. Since this is a wildlife habitat, be sure to bring something that makes noise, such as a bell or radio. Estimated time: 4 hours and 10 minutes.

This waterfall is named after a legend that a giant snake, like a dragon, failed to cross the waterfall and was swallowed by the deep pool. It gathers the clear stream of the Yukawa River and flows vigorously, echoing through the dense natural forest. After going upstream along the Yukawa stream for about 10 minutes from Koze Onsen, cross a wooden bridge and turn right to see the waterfall. Since this is a wildlife habitat, be sure to bring something that makes noise, such as a bell or radio.

A specialty shop located at the entrance of Shiraito Falls. It offers local vegetables and snacks typical of Shinshu, and there is also a udon and soba booth. The most popular item is the salt-grilled iwana (sweetfish) cooked over charcoal. Additionally, there are many unique items available here, such as the "Shiraito Spring Water Tofu," which has been featured on TV, and the famous deer meat buns.
