虎関[こかん]師錬開山の臨済宗東福寺派の寺。天明6年(1786)、津波で大破していた寺を愚海[ぐかい]和尚が再建した際、友人の画家・円山応挙が再建祝いとして方丈の障壁画を描き、その作品を弟子の長沢芦雪が寺に届けた。芦雪もまた、この寺に滞在している間、多くの襖絵などを描き残したため、無量寺は「芦雪寺」とよばれている。
