Forest Aquarium

In the 1 km valley where green trees flourish and the chirping of small birds resonates, four waterfalls appear in succession: Shirataki, Futamitaki, Momiji Falls, and Keimeitaki. The walking paths, stairs, and pavilions are well-maintained, making it perfect for enjoying a walk.

A temple located on the slopes of Mount Gerofuji, overlooking the hot spring town. Founded in the 11th year of Kanbun (1671). The main deity is the statue of Yakushi Nyorai, which is said to have transformed into an injured white heron to heal its wounds in the Hida River and indicate the source of the hot spring. Climbing the 173 stone steps leads to the main hall surrounded by trees. The precincts are filled with maple trees, making it a popular spot for autumn foliage. In mid-November, a light-up event for the autumn leaves is held. Ema (votive tablets) that convey the history of Gero are also dedicated here.

A literary museum standing on the site of the former home of the literary giant Toson Shimazaki. It is also the site of the former main inn of Magome-juku. The entrance's Kabukimon gate and the Toson Memorial Hall were designed by architect Yoshirō Taniguchi. The retreat that survived the fire is designated as a Japanese heritage site as a building from the Edo period. The hometown room on the lower floor shows DVDs. The second library hosts special exhibitions, while the third library has permanent exhibitions, displaying original manuscripts of "Before Dawn" and cherished items, allowing visitors to learn about the life and works of Toson Shimazaki in about 20 minutes.
