Kusakaru Transportation Shiraito Falls Shop

A hiking course starting from Mine no Chaya, with a total length of 10.3 km. Departing from Mine no Chaya, as you proceed down the path lined with Mizunara and Karamatzu trees, you will see Shiraito Falls. From here, continue along the Yukawa River for about 6.5 km to reach Ryugaeshi Falls, which is said to have a legend of a giant snake being swallowed by the waterfall. Further south, after about 1 km, you will arrive at Koze Onsen. The promenade continues from Koze to the endpoint at Mikasa Street. Since this is a wildlife habitat, be sure to bring something that makes noise, such as a bell or radio. Estimated time: 4 hours and 10 minutes.

This waterfall is named after a legend that a giant snake, like a dragon, failed to cross the waterfall and was swallowed by the deep pool. It gathers the clear stream of the Yukawa River and flows vigorously, echoing through the dense natural forest. After going upstream along the Yukawa stream for about 10 minutes from Koze Onsen, cross a wooden bridge and turn right to see the waterfall. Since this is a wildlife habitat, be sure to bring something that makes noise, such as a bell or radio.

塩沢湖の約1km南に並んで立つ、手作り工房兼ショップ。革工芸と手織物作家の夫婦が営んでいる。革の子工房ではバッグやシューズのオーダーメイドのほか、大人気の「革細工手作り体験」は随時開催。キーリング800円、ブレスレット1500円～など多数あり。植物染料を使った手織物を販売する霧下織工房でも、「藍染め体験」Tシャツ3000円～など多数あり。手織り体験もできる。どちらもスタッフが丁寧に指導してくれるので、初心者でももちろん安心。
