Kitami Hakka Memorial Hall, Skinka Distillation Hall

About 60 red foxes are always free-ranging, and you can see an adorable figure in close proximity while strolling along the promenade. Sometimes you can meet a newborn fox in May or June. There are also shops selling fox goods.

The facility is built at the entrance of the Longgong Highway (also known as Wakka Primeval Garden). In the hall, we will introduce the native plants of Wakka and the surrounding nature in a panel display in an easy-to-understand manner. It also accepts rent-to-rent (one-person, one-day junior high school students for over 650 yen, elementary school students for up to 320 yen), which is perfect for strolling along the promenade of the native flower garden.

Lake Saroma Wakka Primeval Garden, whose elongated sandwater on the eastern side demarcating the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Saroma, leaving a slight opening, is also called the Dragon Palace Road. It is a coastal grassland with a width of 200 to 700m, a length of about 20km and an area of about 700ha, and is one of the largest native flower gardens in Japan, which is also designated as a Hokkaido heritage site. More than 300 colorful flowers, such as the hammernas, the lily, and the sendaihagi, bloom all over from June to August. Cars are not allowed to enter the park for nature protection, but the Saroma Lake Waka Nature Center is set up at the base of the east side, and some areas are equipped with about 4km of promenade, so you can enjoy nature rotations.
