Kōkōji Temple

There is a chalky wooden hexagonal lighthouse, one of the oldest in Japan, as well as a corner stone and nightlights, as well as a historical park with 29 literary monuments scattered among the trees. The view of Sakata Port, the Mogami River and the sunset are wonderful. There is Hiwayama Obatoro right next to the park, and you can enjoy bread, sweets, drinks and pasta in a fashionable shop.

A small island with a circumference of approximately 10.2km and an area of 2.7 sq km, designated as a National Monument in 1963. It is a stopover point for migratory birds, and also a treasure trove of wild birds such as Ooruri and Kylenjak, as well as plants such as the yellow-wobbly manthus and the lily, and is visited by many people throughout the four seasons. The ocean, which is so warm and transparent that you can't think of as the Tohoku ocean, is a popular destination for bathers and divers. You can go around the island in comfort, including a rental bike (about 20 cars) and a well-maintained walking course.

Forest natural park where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and skiing. It is located in a hilly area at an altitude of 200 to 300m, and on a clear day you can overlook the Shonai Plain. The site also includes a celestial observatory and a forest learning exhibition hall where you can experience woodworking craft. Pets are OK, but some facilities are not allowed.
