Medical Temple
It began when the monk Gyoki, who discovered the Yamanaka Onsen, laid a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, which he had carved himself, here. It is one of the three Japanese medicine masters, along with Kyoto's Octopus and Izumo's Ichibata. There is a treasure tower standing at the Yakushibashi bridge, a ceramic kongo-dōji statue of the country's important cultural treasures, which was donated by Kutani-yaki's Toso, Seijiro Goto, and a storage store containing Basho's forgotten cane, which can be toured if you apply.
