Kani Ichiban (Kansai Wide Area Union)

The ancient temple was founded in Tenpyo 17 (745) and rebuilt in the Tenmei Year (1781-89) by the two superiors of Mizou [Mitsuzo] and Miei [Mitsuei]. It holds a large number of pictures that can be used by the mid-Edo picture artist Maruyama Okyo and his disciples, and is also known as Ogoji. Including the famous Laomatsu Peacock Map, all 165 of the barrier paintings and three Buddha statues have become important cultural treasures of the country.
