益田氏の菩提寺。応安7年(1374)に建てられたという本堂(重要文化財)は7間四方、寄棟造で、力強い屋根の線に鎌倉時代の特徴がよく表れている。鎌倉時代の『絹本着色二河白道[にがびゃくどう]図』(重要文化財、GWに公開)や本堂の棟札(重要文化財)、平安時代の仏像など寺に伝わる貴重な文化財や雪舟作庭の石庭(史跡・名勝)がある。

The Lan-mi River, a tributary of the clear stream, Takatsu River. When you go upstream along the Lan River, there are four beauty valleys: Lone, Lone, Lone, and Oku Lan. There is a hot spring along the river that flows from one of its scenic spots, the Rai-Nai-mai Gorge, and you can enjoy two of its own sources of hot water, which differ between the inner and outer baths. The hot water, which is weakly alkaline and contains natural moisturizing ingredients, is reputed as a beautiful hot water that makes the skin smooth. Fountain containing radon warms up to the core of the body.

新緑と紅葉の季節は特に絶景が楽しめると評判で、中国山地屈指の渓谷美をみせる匹見峡。その匹見峡最奥部にあたる奥匹見峡にほど近い国道191号沿いにあるのが「道の駅匹見峡」。地域の活動の中心施設となっている「出合の里みちかわ」にトイレやバス停待合い・休憩所、駐車場が整備された道の駅で、ローカルな雰囲気に親しみがもてる。出合の里みちかわ内では、地元の新鮮な野菜や果物のほか、匹見産のワサビを使ったわさび漬けなどのワサビ商品や主婦たち手作りの押し寿司やおはぎなどが販売されているので地元の味覚を楽しみたい。
