Daito Shrine

A saltwater pool that has been artificially constructed by hollowing out a rocky reef. Surrounded by steep bluffs, it is a valuable swimming point on the island of Nantai, which is free of sandy beaches. You can enjoy the exciting feeling of swimming in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You cannot swim at high tide, which is about 2m deep, or when the waves are high. A pavilion for observation is also set up in the vicinity. There is one other place on the East Coast, a naval bar pool.

Meiji 33 (1900) A museum that presents the history and culture of the island beginning with the reclamation of Tamaki Hanemon, a great merchant on Hachijo Island. Material on the sugar company domination era, among others, is a must. The goods vouchers and the Tōjima Approved Certificate, which were issued by the sugar company in lieu of money, convey the management structure at the time. On the side of the center, a sugar train, which has been active in carrying sugar cane and transporting islanders supplies, is also displayed for preservation.

An observation deck at an altitude of 56m near the port of Kameike. Far north, you can see the island of Hokudaitō. Although the island is about 21km around it, the landscape from the observation deck looks like a large area of arable land for sugarcane and potatoes is due to the large size of the area. It is also because the terrain of the island is a basin type that is as high as the surrounding area, so the surrounding sea can hardly be seen.
