Nyoi Temple
An ancient temple that was opened by the Hado Sennin. It was established during the Heian period by Anyang Niiganshi (the elder sister of the Eshin monastery). This area is the setting for the story of Genji, "Akashi no Maki", and it can be seen that the dynasty hobbies of the period, such as Jigyo-do in Miyama and Akashi-Irudo, are adopted in the plan of the temple tower. The Amida-do (Jōgyodo) was built during the period of the Imperial Government, although it is now the main temple. It has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of the Nation, along with the Mie Pagoda and the Monju-do.
