What kind of town is Mikuni Minato?
The town of Mikuni-Minato was a port town that enjoyed its prosperity during the Edo period and early Meiji period during the Hokumae Ship Trade. With the development of maritime routes, it was very busy as a logistics center. Even now, you can feel the feelings of Edo and the prosperity of those days from the town houses where the house of the house is continuous and the merchants who still have the image of the Australian merchants. There are many places to see, such as restaurants, cafes and markets, as well as scattered historical buildings, so it is recommended to walk or rent a bicycle.

"Morita Bank" was founded by the Morita family, one of the Australian merchants who supported the development of Mikuni Minato, and the head office was completed in 1920. The exterior is a classical design of Western Europe, making it the oldest existing reinforced concrete structure in the prefecture. Due to the aging of the building, restoration and conservation work was carried out, and it was opened to the public in 1999 as a cultural heritage of Mikuni-cho.

You can enter the building basically free of charge, and you can carefully tour various designs. The wind-up shutters of the windows, which were state-of-the-art at the time of the architecture, and the ceiling, which is a stairwell, are one of the highlights. The stucco decorations are delicate yet luxurious and eye-robbed. It is currently used for events such as exhibitions and concerts.
