The anime Nintama Rantaro is NHK’s longest-running animated series and is now a beloved national anime enjoyed across generations. Its original work is Rakudai Ninja Rantaro. The author, Amako Soubei, is a manga artist who was born in Amagasaki, loves the city deeply, and has continued drawing manga there throughout her career. The Amako Soubei Manga Gallery, showcasing her works with a focus on the original drawings of Rakudai Ninja Rantaro, has opened inside the Kaimei Government Building in Amagasaki. This is the first permanent space in Japan dedicated to exhibiting Amako’s original drawings. Making use of a former elementary school building, the gallery features a display space inspired by the “Ninjutsu Academy,” as well as a shop corner and an area where fans can gather and interact. Though small in scale, it is a unique and charming gallery.
