2026 Kashiwazaki Kaze no Jin

The city of Enma is a yearly event in Kashiwazaki, which has been around for more than 200 years since the Edo period. Many street stalls, mainly food such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki, and toys, are located around Honmachi Street, where Enma-do is located, for about 2km. This city is counted as one of Niigata's three largest high cities, "Takamachi/Fera", and is rated as Ozeki, the highest ranking in Japan, because of the number of stalls, traditions and formalities.

A festival based on the folk story "Fujigoro Kitsune", which is transmitted to the local area. Deep-fried tatami tatami mats are fried, and lanterns are lined up on a road of about 4km (100 yen for loaning of lanterns, allowed to participate on the day). There are also performances of Yosakoi Kurohimeyama taiko and street stall sales. Tochigahara venue: 12:00 to 17:30, Children's Natural Kingdom venue: 17:30 to 21. There is a shuttle bus pick up from the roadside station "Jonnobinosato Takayanagi" parking lot.

In 1950, the "Gion Kashiwazaki Festival" began with the integration of the Yasaka Shrine's festival "Yasaka Gion Matsuri" and Kashiwazaki's "Shoko-sai." The first day features a citizen-participation event called "Minyo Street Parade," where people dance to folk songs. The second day showcases the "Taru Niwaga Parade," where various groups march with floats and portable shrines loaded with sake barrels, accompanied by spirited shouts. The final day features the "Great Fireworks Festival by the Sea," held at the coastal park area of the central seaside town. Approximately 16,000 fireworks, including wide star mines launched from the breakwater, underwater sky star mines spreading over the sea surface, and a simultaneous launch of 100 large shells, captivate the audience.
