The number of sources is 2847. This figure is equivalent to about one-tenth of the number of sources in Japan. It is amazing because of the fact that there are about 3000 hot springs in Japan, one hot spring resort accounts for this much proportion. Of course, it ranks first in Japan.
The amount of hot spring spring is the best in Japan!
The total amount of hot spring water that gushes out from Beppu City is 102,671 liters per minute. It may be hard to imagine, but if you think about it, that amount would fill 75% of the Tokyo Dome in one minute, so you can get an idea of just how impressive it is. It is the second largest hot spring water in the world.

With only two drop-in baths and two hells, this is the smallest of the eight hot springs in Beppu. It has a long history, with Emperor Daigo and Emperor Go-Reizei said to have visited for a cure in 895 and 1044, respectively.

Since ancient times, it has been a key transportation point leading to Yufuin and Hita, and has flourished as a hot spring resort since the Edo period. There are municipal hot springs and private hot springs near Beppu Interchange. There are also hidden hot springs that feel like secret hot springs.

Hamawaki Onsen
This historic hot spring area is said to have gotten its name from the hot springs that bubbled up on the sandy beach. It flourished as a red-light district from the Meiji to Taisho eras, but now there is no longer a hot spring town and only a public bath.
