Scenic Natural Spots | Tojinbo・Oshima・Mikuni Port Area

A sacred spot for suspense dramas—sheer cliffs lined with massive pillar-like rocks.
The nationally designated scenic spot “Tojinbo” is famous for its dramatic view of the Sea of Japan’s rough waves crashing against sheer cliffs. Stretching for about one kilometer, the bold cliff formations are made of extensive columnar joints of dacite—one of only three such geological formations known in the world, making it an incredibly rare and valuable site (one of the world’s top three scenic cliffs).Tojinbo offers breathtaking views throughout the seasons: the dazzling blue sky and Sea of Japan in early summer, sunset over the sea in autumn, and the powerful waves and cold winds whipping against the rocks in snowy winter. Along with Oshima Island, which floats just offshore, Tojinbo is designated a Natural Monument of Japan. The surrounding area is filled with nostalgic souvenir shops and local restaurants. You can also enjoy a panoramic view reaching all the way to the Noto Peninsula from the Tojinbo Tower—there are many ways to experience this incredible place.
