Yamanohana Campground

At the western end of Osegahara, the Yamanohana to Cushneck is a long moor to the east and west, sandwiched between the Suisui Forest of the Nekomata River in the north and the mountain hem approaching the south side. It is one of the most watery places in Osegahara, and is dotted with small but deep water. Many floating islands are also found. The moor plants include water-loving green moss, and the hitsugita and the black-wobober that grow in the pond. In the area along the upstream forest of the Kawakami River, there is also a community of water clusters.

Before the road was maintained to Hatomata Pass, the most popular course was to cross the Fujimi Pass from this Fujimi Pass into Oze. It takes more than four hours to Osegahara, so there are few people who enter the mountain. Public toilets and water stations are also installed, and about 30 are available as parking spaces.

The Oze Mountain Nose Visitor Center is located at the entrance (west end) of Oze Marsh in the Yamanohana area. Inside the facility, there is a planning exhibition room, and staff are on hand to provide information about seasonal highlights and the conditions of the hiking trails. Timely natural information collected by staff during their patrols is displayed, so it is definitely worth stopping by before exploring Oze Marsh. There are also days when events such as nature observation sessions and slide shows are held.
