野尻湖ナウマンゾウ博物館

A facility located within the fairy tale forest overflowing with fairy tales. The exhibition room of Michael Ende, known for "The Neverending Story," displays handwritten manuscripts, original illustrations, and sketches, and behind it is a relocated and opened mountain lodge where Chihiro Iwasaki spent much time and produced numerous works. It introduces fairy tales, folklore, and children's literature from both Japan and abroad. In addition to the permanent exhibition room of Miyoko Matsutani, the adjacent Fairy Tale Forest Gallery hosts exhibitions of works by local artists and special exhibitions from the fairy tale museum. Takes about 50 minutes.

A habitat for clusters of pure white magnolia and yellow marsh marigold flowers. The walking paths are well-maintained, making it enjoyable to stroll while trekking or birdwatching. The best time to see the flowers in full bloom is from late April to early May. In the surrounding area, you can also enjoy wildflowers such as violets, which Chihiro Iwasaki loved, until late May.

Kurohime Kogen spreads at the eastern foot of Kurohime Mountain, also called "Shinano Fuji" for its standing figure. Overlooking Lake Nojiri at its foothills, it is truly a treasure trove of nature. In winter, the magnificent slopes become the perfect ski area with the "Kurohime Kogen Snow Park," and in summer, it transforms into the "Kurohime Green Garden," where you can enjoy a million colorful cosmos and dahlias, among other vibrant flowers. Additionally, you can hike to the Kurohime Fairy Tale Museum, which exhibits fairy tales and picture books from around the world, and the Oshika Pond and Oshika Wetland, which are certified forest therapy courses, offering various enjoyment throughout the year.
