Shikawa of Shikoku

This area, which has had hot springs since ancient times, is home to a rare temple in Japan where Kobo Daishi visited and conveyed the benefits of hot spring healing. The mountain is called Onsenzan. The Daishi himself carved the Yakushi Nyorai, who is said to save people from illnesses and disasters in this world, as the main deity. The current main deity was donated in gratitude for the healing of a difficult illness and is enshrined as the original胎内仏. Inside the temple, there are 50 statues of Buddha carved by the famous Kyoto sculptor, Akira Matsumoto. The temple has a history of over 400 years since it was designated as a lodging temple for pilgrims in need of accommodation. It is also well-received as a lodging temple.

阿波和三盆糖の製造元。砂糖キビから砂糖のエキスを絞り出す作業や、砂糖と蜜を分離する「研ぎ」という職人技など、昔ながらの技法を守り続けている。みやげ物コーナーには、上品な甘さの和三盆糖粉100g432円～、粉を紅葉やうず潮などの形にした落雁の詰合せ756円～も。敷地内にある売店では、製造工程を解説したビデオが上映されており、製糖の様子がよく分かる。

Kamiita-cho is the best town in Japan to produce sukumono, which is a dye for indigo-dye. In "Gikinōkan", you can experience indigo-dye using the sushi-spider. Up to 48 people (reservations required) can be accepted at the same time.
