Kanemizaki Observation Deck, Kanemizaki cycads tunnel

Kanamizaki is a headland projecting into the northeastern part of the island. It is almost on the way to the observation deck provided at the tip. A giant cycads tree, which is said to be 300 to 350 years old, is about 200m long, lined up endlessly on the left and right of the road, creating a tunnel-shaped landscape that can be said to be a kind of unusual. In addition, the observation deck, where the magnificent panorama of the ocean is spread under your eyes, is located on the stairs in the middle of this cycads tunnel.

The 46th Yokozuna Asashiotaro memorial statue in Tokunoshima commemorates a sumo wrestler from the town, Asashio Taro. He served as a yokozuna of the Great Sumo Tournament until 1959-1962, when he was a sumo wrestler two minutes into popularity with the first generation Wakanohana, and is known to have raised both Asashio and Konishiki after his retirement. He finished with five total wins and four Distinguished Service Awards.
