Samurai House Street

Kaminoyama Onsen, which also flourished as an inn town, is one of the largest hot spring towns in the prefecture called Ou Sanraku-go. There are many foot baths and communal baths, only because they are known for their abundance of hot water and good quality of hot water. There are five locations in total, one in the vicinity of the station, three in Shinyu and Yumachi, and one in Hayama. If you soak carefully while looking at the mountains and city of Zao, your body will be warm. There are four communal bathhouses, and the bathing fee is 150 yen ~ (100 yen for washing hair separately). Among them, the oldest Shimooyu communal bathhouse is characterized by a large bathtub and a cobblestone washing area. There is also a rest area where you can take a break (300 yen).

Located on the first floor of "Futsukamachi Plaza," a kid-friendly facility where parents and children can enjoy together, just a 6-minute walk from Kamiyama Onsen Station. The "Play Area for Ages 3 and Up" features a large net play structure hanging from the ceiling that catches the eye. There are also a kids' climbing wall, pretend shop play, and sound steps, allowing children to play in ways that suit their skills. The "Play Area for Ages 0 to 2" includes a crawling space, making it suitable for babies as well. In addition to a multipurpose room, consultation room, and temporary childcare room, there are also nursing rooms and diaper changing rooms available.

「上山城」は、別名「月岡城」とも呼ばれ、天文4年(1535)に築城された城。江戸時代にはその壮麗な城郭から「羽州の名城」とも。城跡は月岡公園と月岡神社境内として整備され、昭和57年(1982)に二の丸に再建された3層の模擬天守は郷土資料館となっている。資料館内では、上山の歴史や文化を紹介しており、昔あそび体験コーナーが人気。企画展もあり、上山市観光ボランティアガイドが無料ガイドをしてくれるのでぜひ。最上階からは上山市街や蔵王連峰を一望できる。
