Large black shop

A waterfall known as a famous spot in Karuizawa. It is about 3 meters high, but 70 meters wide, with underground water flowing down from various points on the cliff, creating a beautiful landscape resembling a curtain of white silk threads. The source of this waterfall is the groundwater from Mount Asama, so there is no river above the waterfall, and if you look closely, you can see water bubbling up from the black rock surface. The contrast with the surrounding woods is also beautiful, captivating people with the beauty of each season: fresh greenery in early summer, dazzling autumn leaves, and snowy winter scenes.

A museum located on the second floor of the Meiji 44th Year Hall within Karuizawa Taliesin. The cute mint green building is a relocated and restored structure of the former Karuizawa Post Office built in 1911 (registered tangible cultural property). Inside the museum, works by Koko Fukazawa, who spent summers in Karuizawa painting the wildflowers of the highlands, are on display. Centered around watercolor paintings of seasonal wildflowers, there are also oil paintings, lithographs, illustrations, and a recreation of the studio where her creative activities took place. It takes about 30 minutes to visit.

Since his first visit to Karuizawa in 1920, writer Saisei Murou spent every summer here for 40-odd years, the year before his death, attracted by its charm. This villa is a Japanese-style one-story house built in 1931, and the garden was built by Saisei himself. The old house, nestled in a grove, still conveys Karuizawa, the day that literary scholars prefer.
