奥耶馬渓の渓谷美に囲まれた場所にある複合文化施設「コアやまくに」。図書館やキャンプ場、スポーツパークなど、多彩な施設が揃う中で、地元の人にも人気が高いのが、守実温泉を引く日帰り入浴施設の「やすらぎの郷やまくに」。神経痛などに効能があるという弱アルカリ性単純温泉の湯がゆっくりと味わえて、サウナ付きの大浴場からは奥耶馬渓の自然も楽しめる。館内にあるレストランでは、地元の米を使った定食や丼物を提供。宿泊棟とコテージがあるので、宿泊して温泉を楽しむのもいい。レンタサイクルを借りて、ここを拠点に耶馬渓観光をするのもおすすめだ。

From late May to mid-June, Genji fireflies can be seen along the Yamakuni River and its tributaries in the Fujinoki and Tsukiki areas of Yamakuni Town.
