Cafe Drôme

A shop located in front of the government-operated factory, Tomioka Silk Mill, from the Meiji era. The shop's signature dish, okirikomi udon for 1100 yen, is a local dish from Gunma Prefecture that simmers root vegetables and mushrooms with wide noodles. This shop finishes it with a light soy sauce flavor.

The soba and udon shop, designed like a traditional inn with a grand roof, attracts attention. It uses a variety of stone-ground soba flour from Horokanai in Hokkaido, the foothills of Mount Asama in Nagano, and Nikko in Tochigi, and the soba made with yam as a binder is rich in flavor and has a good texture. Stone-ground soba is 858 yen. The udon, a specialty, is made with Joetsu wheat and kneaded with silk protein liquid from natural cocoons produced in Tomioka. Tempura oroshi mayu udon is 1650 yen. There are also okirikomi for 1430 yen, miso kirikomi, duck kirikomi, and curry kirikomi, so I want to try various dishes.

A long-established ryotei with over 110 years of history. The seasonal Matsukado bento, which focuses on fresh ingredients, starts at 2200 yen. It includes bamboo shoots and maitake rice, local sashimi konnyaku, and tamagoyaki. Kaiseki cuisine is also available upon request starting at 3500 yen. I want to savor it slowly in a private tatami room. All rooms are equipped with chair seating.
