Isoshi Shiki

A local cuisine restaurant with a rich selection of sake. The eel dishes are particularly well-known in the area. Popular items include grilled eel served with various condiments and special sauce for 1419 yen, and eel rice porridge for 1320 yen. You can also enjoy the seven delicacies of Lake Shinji, with dishes like sea bass grilled in parchment for 2409 yen, clam soup for 1419 yen, and white fish with spicy vinegar miso for 1089 yen. It's a small restaurant, so it's best to make a reservation if possible.

A dining place with wooden tables and floor seating covered with red fabric, reminiscent of a tea house from the Edo period. In addition to udon and soba, the burdock rice set meal is also popular. The dessert menu is extensive, featuring handmade mugwort dumplings. Available in three varieties: soybean flour, red bean paste, and soy sauce for 400 yen. The house-made shiso juice and yuzu squash are also popular. The adjacent souvenir shop sells products from the Minoya brand and SL goods.

A café named after a poem by Mori Ogai. Facing the Honmachi street, it offers a view of the Tsuwano Catholic Church from its bay window. Special blend coffee for 550 yen, coffee jelly for 750 yen. At the craft shop of the same name, you can buy original washi dolls and wooden products covered with washi paper. Additionally, a nearby workshop offers a paper-making experience. They also manufacture and sell the famous local confectionery, Genji-maki.
