Uenokoku Hachimatomiya Annual Festival, Watami Festival
It is a festival that continues from the middle of the Edo period, with the procession of the priests and the Shinkoshi milling around the town. The procession of the Imperial Court comes from the fact that the Matsumae clan paid homage to their ancestors, Kaminokuni, and allowed the samurai dress (kamishi) to residents who accompany them on foot at the time of the annual festival. In the shrine, Kagura dances (Matsumae Kagura group) are performed. On the first day, the afternoon "Mengarō", the evening festival (Kagura Mai) is held from the evening, and the regular festival (Kagura Mai and the mountain car only) is held from 10 o'clock on the second day. * In 2024, the procession of the priests and the Mikami-koshi procession will be canceled.
