Esashi Industry Festival

Ofunato City is said to be the northern limit of the Pacific Ocean side where yobaki is native, with warm temperatures and almost no snow cover even in winter. Located in the southern part of the city, the Sanriku Reconstruction National Park "Goishi Kaigan" is also designated as a national masterpiece and natural monument, and the largest indoor camellia viewing facility in the country, "Camellia of the World", located in the area. From around 12 to April, you can enjoy the flowers and scents of 600 camellias from 13 countries around the world. Around the time of its peak, from February to March, the Tsubaki Festival is held, and on the day of the event, the experience of camellia, the sale of camellia sweets and related products, welcome by Ofunato Tsubaki Musume, as well as the popular camellia vote, which is a luxury prize. A brave festival in which naked men jure up the Su-min bag in the snow precinct, wishing for an evil remedy, a disease-free disaster and a good harvest of the five. The bag contains 365 pieces with zodiac signs. The men go down the approach while pushing the bag, and a piece is given to a person holding the mouth of the bag at the goal of the torii at the entrance of the approach.

Naked men bravely running through praying for things like "fire-proof prayer," "disease-free disaster," and "cottage safety," while being doused with unforgiving cold water by people waiting in the roadside. It is a festival in Ichinoseki, which is said to have started in the wake of the "Great Fire of the Meiji calendar (Furisode Fire)" in Edo in 1657. It is also called the "Great Festival of the World" because it is held in February in extreme cold weather.
