Doburoku Festival
A festival in Gassho-zukuri-no-sato, Shirakawa-go, known for being passed down as cotton even in the days when private sake brewing was strictly regulated. When the Shinto procession, which follows the lion dance and gagakuto, works out, ends, the doburoku brewed in the sake brewery of the shrine by a unique method is served by the worshipers. The Shishi Mai, a folk song (Kodaijin) was designated as an important intangible folk cultural property of the prefecture. It is a cheerful festival with rich local colors. It is held at Shirakawa Hachiman Shrine on the 14th and 15th, Hatoya Hachiman Shrine on the 16th and 17th, and Iijima Hachiman Shrine on the 18th and 19th. Image courtesy of Shirakawa Village, Gifu
