Kawagoe Festival
The Kawagoe Festival began with the presence of the Kawagoe feudal lord, Matsudaira Nobunori, who donated his festival tools to Hikawa Shrine, and has been passed on, taking on the transformations of Edo's "Sanno Matsuri" and "Kanda Matsuri" style. Now that the Honke Tokyo festival has been changed from a floaty to a kamikoshi, it is a floaty event in memory of the former Edo Tenka Festival. In 2005, it was designated as an important intangible folk cultural property of the country as a "floaty event of the Kawagoe Hikawa Festival", and in 2016 it was listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Site as one of 33 nationwide "Yamahoku/Stall events". * It is recommended to use public transportation as it is crowded.
